This album was very focused on ideas of insanity and whether a crazy person would know if they were. The title "Seventeen and Insane" is a reference to Farenheit 451.
I didn't know about sampling when I recorded this, but was trying to make my own style or sampling and looping. I would record each drum separately and then make a track or just the bass drum on the beat, and then physically place each sample where I wanted it on the audio track. Very primitive but it taught me a lot about where drum and percussion sounds should sit in a track.
